For the Winterberg Schierke GmbH and its main shareholder, the entrepreneur Mr. Gerhard Bürger from Hildesheim, who wants to open a cable car to the summit of Winterberg in Schierke in the Harz Mountains in December 2020, Christoph Schrahe takes over various tasks as part of an accompanying consultation since 2017. Christoph Schrahe has also been a member of the Supervisory Board since 2018.
Client: Oberstdorfer Bergbahn AG
Montenius Consult provided the profitability calculation of the master plan for the expansion of the Söllereck ski resort. The realisation of the project starts in 2019. Therefore, it was necessary to integrate the planned figures into a rolling budget plan for the coming years, which makes it possible to continuously compare planned and actual figures. Possible delays of the four project modules, a changing construction schedule or the omission of project components had to be considered as options. With the rolling budget plan, OBB AG now has a flexible planning and controlling tool for managing its EUR 42.9 million project.
Client: Oberstdorfer Bergbahn AG
The Oberstdorfer Bergbahn AG intends to partially finance the realisation of its master plan with subsidies from the Bavarian cable car promotion programme. Montenius Consult formulated the necessary funding applications and accompanied the application process.
Client: Entwicklungsagentur Rheinland-Pfalz GmbH
The Development Agency of Rhineland-Palatinate commissioned Montenius Consult to write a paper on "Vertical Mobility" as part of its project management for the BUGA in the Middle Rhine Valley in 2029. Overcoming the elevation differences between the potential exhibition areas in the deeply notched Rhine Valley and the possible BUGA areas on the heights on both sides of the valley represents a central challenge for the traffic and visitor guidance concept of BUGA 2029.
Client: Ferienpark Plötzky
The holiday park Plötzky is located about 20 minutes south of Magdeburg and is thanks to its variety of offers the campsite with the highest ADAC rating in Saxony-Anhalt. Nevertheless, its operator Wolfgang Schulle would like to create additional incentives for day-trippers and holiday guests with new attractions. He has therefore commissioned Montenius Consult with the development of new ideas, which are primarily aimed at the target group of families with children.
Client: World of Fun Freizeitpark AG
World of Fun is an indoor amusement park in the immediate vicinity of the designer outlet Zweibrücken. The park offers an ice rink, bowling, indoor mini golf, an indoor playground and several restaurants. Together with the expert Dr. Heinrich Lang, Montenius Consult carried out a business consultancy aimed at optimising the economic outcome by offering additional services inside or outside the World of Fun.
Client: Skigebiet Olpe-Fahlenscheid GbR
The ski resort Olpe-Fahlenscheid is the closest ski area to Cologne and numerous towns along the A4 and A45 motorways. However, awareness of this ideal family ski resort in these key source markets is rather low. Montenius Consult was commissioned to create a marketing concept as the basis for an increase in skier days and revenues. The biggest challenge was that, given a very small marketing budget, the classic ways of communication are not available for the Fahlenscheid ski resort. Asked were rather creative solutions that optimally combine the available resources. The developed measures were partly implemented starting with the 2012/13 season and will be fully implemented over a period of approximately three years.
Client: Postwiesen Liftgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG
The Postwiese in Neuastenberg was the first ski area, which offered a large scale snowmaking system thanks to being the pilot project of the Master Plan Winter Sports Arena Sauerland and thus experienced a huge surge in visitors and revenues in 2002. Almost ten years later, it comes to setting the course for the coming decade. Montenius Consult therefore received an order by the Postwiesen Liftgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG to moderate a 1.5-day workshop with stakeholders from the fields of hotels, restaurants, ski rental, ski school, tourist office and representatives of the lift company. In this workshop, a positioning for the village and the ski area were developed.
Client: Schmallenberg Town Council, Germany
Monitoring and summary of ideas of the Ski Club Schmallenberg e.V. for the operation of the ski lift Schmallenberger Höhe and the Handweiser Hut.
Client: Tourist Board Sauerland, Brilon, Germany
Based on the results of the area’s regional development concept, measures for the improvement of the services in the central ski area of the Sauerland were developed. These included recommendations for snowmaking systems, lift and trail quality, network, general services, catering, accommodation, traffic guidance systems, ski rental, marketing, sales and quality management. For the Ministry of Economic Affairs, SME’s, Energy and Transport the findings were a basis for the allocation of subsidies for projects that improved the quality of the ski areas in the Sauerland. The aim was to establish the Sauerland as the leading ski area in Germany's low mountain ranges until 2006. Until the season of 2005/06 visitor numbers in the regions ski areas had already climbed from 300,000 to 1,000,000.
Client: Snowtime 365 AG, Germany
In the course of this project Christoph Schrahe acted as editor in chief for the creation of a new winter sports portal on the World Wide Web that is supposed to include a database of 5,000 ski resorts worldwide. He defined the structure and content of the database and was responsible for recruitment and training of the staff necessary for building it up.
Client: Sternrodt-Skilifte, Bruchhausen, Germany
The ski area Sternrodt suffered from a considerable decrease of visitors in recent years. Therefore it was planned to extend the ski area and connect it with the neighbouring ski area of Willingen. For this ambitious project a concept was created in order to attract investors, as the management company was not able to finance the development out of their own resources. First contacts with potential investors were established.
Client: Community of Seiffen, Germany
In the frame of an action plan for the operation of tourist organisations run by the community of Seiffen, Christoph Schrahe delivered an operational analysis for the local ski lift. Recommendations for short-term actions included activities in the fields of communication, sales and service, in the medium and long-term it was recommended to examine the construction of a new facility.
