Markus Gamon
Mag. Markus Gamon MSc (Managing Director Gamon & Partner) has joined the team of Montenius Consult.
He studied electrical engineering, law, economics and social sciences at Innsbruck University. Moreover, he acquired additional qualifications in the fields of controlling, network management and human resources management. After working as a controller and project manager for Hilti plc in the principality of Liechtenstein, he moved into the tourism industry.
He was employed for eight years as business and marketing manager by Silvretta Nova Bergbahnen AG, one of the leading ski areas in Austria, in charge of Bergbahnen Silvretta Nova, Bergbahnen Sulden am Ortler, Bergbahnen Diedamskopf and Sporthotel Silvretta Nova. During his time as manager, the skiing resort of Diedamskopf was fully rebuilt and extended, at a total investment of 30 Mio. Euro. Since 1995, he has also been a member and representative of the region of Vorarlberg within the marketing forum of the Association of the Austrian Cable Railways. In 1998 he acquired the Diedamskopf ski area in the Bregenzerwald region for Silvretta Nova Bergbahnen AG and was appointed as its managing director. During this time, he introduced the Bregenzerwald Card and the ‘Kinderschnee’ programme. Visitor numbers more than tripled under his successful management. As head of marketing of the ‘Drei-Täler-Skiing Area’, he was instrumental in setting up a cooperation with the Feldberg Ski Resort in the Black Forest, Germany. He also represented the region of Vorarlberg at the Marketingforum of Austrian Cableways, where he was in charge of Public Relations from 1996 to 2001.
In 1994 and 1998, Markus Gamon was the initiator and partner of two international symposiums relating to European tourism. He also dealt with planning processes in ski resorts within the European GIS-research project Catesian from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, he completed a masters degree in Integrated Product Development (IPD).
Since 2002, Markus Gamon is a self-employed business consultant and entrepreneur. The core areas of his company, Gamon & Partner in Nenzig, are strategic planning, controlling, marketing, integrated product development and human resources. He has been a partner of Montenius Consult since 2008 and a partner of Alea Partners consultancy in Vaduz and Zurich since 2009.
In 2004, he won the Austrian State Prize for Mobility and was awarded the Austrian State Prize for best consultant. He is a Certified Management Consultant and a certified Basel-II Consultant.
Markus Gamon is a lecturer for controlling at the University of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Vaduz. At the University of Cooperative Education in Ravensburg, Germany, he lectures in destination management. He is also teaching in Liechtenstein, Switzerland and in the region of Vorarlberg, Austria, and a speaker at tourism business functions. His company successfully runs several hotels and restaurants.
